The Ambassador

The Hindustan Ambassador was an automobile manufactured by Hindustan Motors of India. It was in production from 1958 to 2014 with few improvement and changes over its production lifetime.

Hindustan Motors is an Indian automotive manufacturer based in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It is a part of the Birla Technical Services industrial group. The company was the largest car manufacturer in India before the rise of Maruti Udyog.

In the early 1990s, the old Austin-designed B-series OHV straight-4 BMC 1.5L petrol engine was replaced in favorur of an Isuzu 1.8 litre engine and became the fastest production car in India, beating the fiats, and the Maruti Suzuki cars at that time. The engines currently available are the 1500 DSL (1.5 L 37 bhp diesel engine), 1800 ISZ (1.8 L 75 bhp MPFI petrol engine), 2000 DSZ (2.0 L 50 bhp Isuzu diesel engine) and 2000 DSZ Turbo (2.0 L 75 bhp turbocharged intercooled Isuzu diesel engine.

The car was a boom at its time, it was manufactured till 2014. It is a symbol of royalty in India. You can still see that even the Prime minister of India rides in this car with a Laal Batti (Red light) on it. This is car was, still is and will be the VIP car of India. No Mercs, Bimmers, or Audis can replace its luxury.
